During the early 1900s, Keralites migrated to Malaysia. Datuk P.C. Isaacs, a great-grandfather of my wife, started the first English Grammar School in Terengganu in 1927. He played a role in politics and provided valuable assistance to the Sultan Of Terengganu. He was the first Indian to become a member of the State Assembly in 1946. He led the Anti-Japanese Force 136 movement. He passed away in an Accident in 1974.
In 1998, my family attended a dinner with Datuk Stanley Isaacs, the son of Datuk P.C. Isaacs, with the Sultan of Terengganu as chief guest. My goal was to discover the roots of my mother and my grandparents.Time did not permit during my stay in Malaysia.
I concluded after talking to my mother and other immediate relatives that my grandparents left for Malaysia in 1935.During World War II, my mother lived with my grandparents in Malaysia. She was born there in 1941. In 1947, they decided to leave Malaysia because they could no longer afford to live there. After arriving in Kerala, my grandmother became a music teacher in a school. My grandfather continued his medical practice.
